The death of shelf-life
A GREAT question posed by Naomi Alderson in a discussion of digital books over at Mssv:
Do you think the ‘brag value’ of having the books you’ve read lined up
on your bookshelves will vanish? Do people line up their CDs on shelves
anymore?
It's true. I bury mine (CDs, that is) in a chest of drawers. Isn't it going feel much weirder, though, when the digital book finally gets irresistible (in two years or so), not having shelves of books on display around the house as an alibi for your brain?
