The Autumn issue goes online
Back to New York, and a busy day putting the Autumn issue of Intelligent Life magazine online, just as the new Winter issue is appearing on British news-stands. The cover-story of the Winter issue is an interview with Philip Pullman, author of "His Dark Materials".
Whereas Intelligent Life magazine is published quarterly, here on the website we are trying to offer new content each day—some of it taken directly from the magazine; some of it updating or amplifying pieces from the magazine; much of it original but in keeping with the identity of the magazine.
By putting the magazine online, we take a big step towards integration of the magazine and website. The text of the Autumn issue is now available; over the next couple of days we'll be adding in photographs—excluding those that we cannot reproduce online for reasons of copyright. I'm sorry about any omissions, but we're doing what we can.
For the future, our current intention is to post the full text of each issue of the magazine about one month after print publication.
I should say, too, that I'm all too conscious we are starting to build up a big inventory of online material, without a particularly good system for navigating through it.
Once we've got the Autumn and Winter issues of the magazine posted, my next priority will be the sorting of context by sections, so that you can go directly to our writing on wine, or philosophy, or film.
As always, please do write to me directly with any suggestions of constructive criticisms, or please to post a comment here.
